Not later than four weeks after placing a biocidal product containing an existing active substance on the market for the first time, those responsible (producer, importer, distributor) in Austria according to § 27, sub-para. 1 of the Austrian Chemicals Act must notify that biocidal product to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, unless it has been notified under the Poison Information Ordinance 1999, Federal Legal Gazette II No 137.

For notification, a form (currently the safety-data sheet (SDS) in German language pursuant to § 25 of the Chemicals Act) has to be used. It should contain all the information (including the detailed composition of the biocidal product) needed for answering questions on medical issues (such as preventive and curative measures), in particular in cases of emergencies (§ 27, sub-para. 3 and 4 of the Biocidal Products Act).
