Biocidal Products Regulation - BPR
Biocidal products are regulated in the REGULATION (EU) No 528/2012 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 22 May 2012 concerning the making available on the market and use of biocidal products. (Abbreviation: BPR)
Implementing and delegated acts are adopted as laid down in the BPR.

Biocidal Products Act
In Austria, the Biocidal Products Regulation was transposed into national law by a Federal Act on the implementation of the Biocidal Products Regulation. This Federal Act sets out the legal provisions which are necessary to ensure the enforcement and surveillance of the new European Union regulations in Austria - such as the responsibilities of the enforcing authorities, surveillance powers and the sanctions which are to be imposed in the event of regulatory offences.

Ordinance on Fee Tariffs
A fee has to be paid by the applicant for the evaluation of biocidal product applications. A new Ordinance entered into force on 18.11.2014. The annex was replaced by the announcement mentioned below.

Biocidal Products Fee Tariffs (BPGT)
The Federal Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology announces according to § 11 (5) of the Biocidal Products Act (Biozidproduktegesetz (BiozidprodukteG)), Bundesgesetzblatt (BGBl.) I Nr. 105/2013 in the version BGBl. I Nr. 53/2020.).
After 1. January 2021 the Announcement on Fee Tariffs enters into force and replaces the annex of the above mentioned Ordinance on Fee Tariffs. The BPGT will be updated annually according to the inflation rate. The BPGT 2024 is in force from 1. January 2024 and replaces the BPGT 2023.
